Orthodontic appliances and bars are special orthodontic constructions that are used to correct the position of teeth and bite in both adults and children. Today, different methods are used for teeth alignment. It can be the correction using brackets or Invisalign aligners, though traditional bars and special orthodontic appliances are used. They can be recommended both for small patients and adults. Bars are effective if there are diastemas, irregular shape of the dentition or curvature of the teeth. The orthodontist chooses the most appropriate method individually after complex diagnostics.
There are two main types of devices for teeth alignment: removable and fixed constructions. Removable devices are recommended in the period of development of the dental system. These devices can be one jaw or be fixed on both jars with different elements for teeth alignment.
To achieve the desired result, we recommend wearing bars and devices for about 2 years. If necessary, they are changed every half a year. The exact duration of treatment is determined by the orthodontist based on diagnostic data, the complexity of the defects and the patient’s characteristics.
